SEPTEMBER 2019 SPOTLIGHT
WELCOME (& WELCOME BACK)!
It’s been an exciting start to our Fall 2019 semester and our 10th season here at Starlight Studios! We so happy you are here to learn and grow in the arts with us. If you have not been to the front desk in our new lobby, please be sure to come by. We have your welcome info packet as well as your free Starlight t-shirt.
STARLIGHT SPIRIT WEEK
As we get into our semester, we are preparing for the first studio-wide event of the season: SPIRIT WEEK! During the week of September 16th-21st, Starlight students are encouraged to dress in their studio gear or anything that has stars on it. During this week, students will also be allowed to bring a friend for free to class with them (please make sure that the friend is of the same level and age of the class being taken). To add to the fun, we will be bringing back the rock painting station!
SEPTEMBER COMMUNITY PERFORMANCES
This month, Starlight Studios has been invited to not one, but two community events to perform. On Saturday the 14th, we will be dancing in the Mexican Independence Day parade at 10AM. This parade is located in downtown Tracy. We will have a special parade dance available soon for you to view and practice. This event is open to all students and family members of all ages.
On Saturday the 21st, we will be performing at the St Bernards Church’s Fall Festival from 2:30-3:00PM. This event is open to dancers and musicians that performed in our Spring recitals as well as students that joined us for the parade above.
Sign ups for both of these events will be available at the front desk. Please sign up by September 7th.
A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS – PERFORMANCE INFO
Yes we know Summer isn’t even over yet but we have already begun preparations for our upcoming production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas”! Please view our informational webpages for each department: DANCE and THEATER.
Our performances will be held on Friday, December 20th at 7PM and Saturday, December 21st at 11AM, 3PM, and 7PM. Dancing Stars students will only perform in one show, Shooting Stars dance students and Level 1 students will only perform in two shows (unless you request them to be in all four shows), and all other performing theater and dance students will perform in all four shows. Rehearsal details coming soon.
Performance fees are due now – costume fee is $65 for each class and videographer fee is $25 per family (this fee will give you access to the digital copy of the show, however if you want a physical copy, they are $5 each). If you have any questions or issues with these amounts, please let us know. We would love to work with you.
Performing in front of an audience on stage with your classmates is a big part of our curriculum. That time on stage is like the championship game for performers and everyone deserves the time to shine and show what they’ve learned and what they love about the arts. If you have a prior obligation during the dates of our show, please fill out the opt-out form on the DANCE link above.
RISING STARS MUSIC SHOWCASE
It’s official! If you want a place to show off your musical talents, then join our NEW Rising Stars Music Showcase! Check out all of the info HERE. This event is open to both students and outside community members. Our Sign-up form will be available soon! The next showcase will be on Saturday, October 12th.
