Sandi Gonzalez

As an ongoing learner and homeschooling mom, Sandi Gonzalez has a passion for teaching and watching students grow in stature, confidence, and skill. Sandi began dancing as a child at Schumacher’s in South San Francisco. She was introduced to all styles, developed a special passion for tap, and took tap classes for the next three years until her family moved across the Bay. She also enjoyed performing in school plays. After spending years away from the arts, then getting married and becoming a mother, Sandi returned as an adult when her oldest daughter became interested in music and theatre. She has taken tap and jazz classes at Ohlone College and has assisted and taught adult tap, as well as beginning tap, ballet and combo classes for children of varying ages with the City of Fremont. Sandi is a former board member at Stage 1 Theatre in Newark, where she and her five children had been involved both on and off stage since 2010 through 2016. She has worked behind the scenes at Stage 1 in the areas of properties design, assistant choreography, and co-production. Near the end of 2013, Sandi ventured into choreographing youth musicals with HEART Academy’s Youth Theatre Project in San Jose, with large casts of widely varying ages and experience, such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Singin’ in the Rain, Seussical Jr., The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, and Mary Poppins. Sandi was nominated by HEART/YTP’s founder to Youth Focus, Inc. and was recognized as an Outstanding Youth Mentor. She is excited and thankful to join the Starlight Studios team!
